NW gets new ambulances

Johannesburg - Forty new Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz ambulances will be taken into service released next week in North West in an effort to improve emergency medical service delivery, the department of health and social development said on Wednesday. Spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane said the distribution of the ambulances, worth R17m, would give preference to rural communities.

58 Gauteng Province Ambulances written off

Johannesburg - Fifty-eight ambulances in Gauteng were written off in the last financial year, the provincial health department confirmed on Monday.Gauteng spokesperson Simon Zwane attributed this to the high number of accidents on Gauteng roads.

The restructuring and realignment processes were specifically aimed at:

  • Improving the quality of patient care in the Emergency Care environment,
  • Aligning the Emergency Care Profession with other health care professions,
  • Complying with the requirements of the National Qualifications Framework and the South African Qualifications Authority Act of 1995.
